Fact is that property prices in Spain have never been so low since the boom a decade back and worldwide market occurrences have also taken their effect in Spain, an economy strongly influenced by its large property market. In spite of this, Spain remains the number one destination for buying a second home or retiring in Europe.

Spain’s best kept secret – The Costa Dorada

You may ask yourself why can I not find properties on the Costa Dorada on any of the main property search websites, in prominent tourist guides, or why is there so little on the internet compared to other Spanish coasts, such as the Costa de Sol or Costa Blanca. Simply put, the Costa Dorada is one of the, possibly the, most unspoilt coastline of all Spain. Over 250km of pristine beaches, with one blue flag followed by the next, is witness to its unique quality. You will find that construction along the coastline has been kept tasteful, unlike many other areas in Spain. Instead of long stretches of hotel chains and high-rise apartment blocks, you will mainly come across small marina towns, authentic mountain villages and all year round inhabited coastal towns.
Fact is that the Costa Dorada is home to, or close by, a great variety of attractions, ranging from,

  • pristine beaches
  • fishing towns
  • culturally rich heritage in the form of a great amount of inland castles and monastries
  • unique and world known wine area
  • the impressive Ebro Delta, the largest delta after the Nile Delta
  • Port Aventura, Spain’s biggest amusement and water park
  • Salou, one of Spain’s most famous nightlife destinations
  • Culturally impressive cities, such as Reus, Tarragona (recently awarded UN World Heritage Site), and of course Barcelona, all of which also provide for fantastic shopping

Fact is also that Catalunya is Spain’s most affluent province. Government bodies are investing substantially to conserve the heritage and create surroundings, in the form of architecture and landscaping that is also highly valued by foreign visitors.
